Notable

Coming from two of Portugal’s most popular grapes, this is not your typical rosé.

Sips & Scents

Quick note on the grapes. Touriga Nacional is Portugal's premier red grape, producing bold wines with dark fruit flavors, firm tannins that age well, and a floral elegance that sets it apart from other grape varieties. Baga makes deeply colored, high-acid wines with flavors of dark berries, earthy undertones, and strong tannins that often need time to soften.
This young champagne method rosé portrays aromas of red summer fruits, watermelon and basil. It’s fresh, crisp, silky and dry with flavors of tart berries, strawberry jam, orange peel and thyme.

Perfect Matches

This is a refreshing aperitif style rosé that’s enjoyable on its own with friends on the patio. It also compliments shellfish, fried seafood, tempura, and lightly spiced spicier Asian dishes.

Hands Behind the Bubbles

Established in 1920 by the Costa brothers, Caves São João began as a port producer. However, the winery transitioned to crafting still and sparkling wines following a 1930 regulation that redefined the legal boundaries for port production. Located just 12 miles from the Atlantic, the vineyards benefit from a unique coastal climate, with hot days and cool nights cooled by ocean winds. These are the ideal conditions for grapes destined for sparkling wines.
