Brut Nature

Notable

This sparkling gem shows Spain offers more than just Cava. The base wine aged on lees for 12 months, followed by 18 months in bottle totaling 30 months on lees.

Sips & Scents

This is a fascinating and surprisingly complex wine. There are aromas of citrus, grapefruit, dry herbs, and yeast with fresh, clean salinity reminiscent of sea breezes. A creaminess to the bubbles coats the palate, and the vibrant crisp acidity provides a long finish. Immensely enjoyable with a dry but soft finish that surprises you when you remember this is a brut nature. Be warned, this bottle finishes very quickly…

Perfect Matches

This bottle wants fresh seafood, shrimp cocktail or oysters. It’s sharp enough for almost anything on the fried spectrum, but soft enough to finish easily with two (wine) glasses and a friend on the patio.

Hands Behind the Bubbles

The vines at Izar-Leku sit high above the ocean on raised trellises overlooking the Bay of Biscayne. Izar-Leku is a passion product of the Zapiain and López de Lacalle families, who, when beginning their journey to craft quality sparkling wine, consulted with Philippe Bereche (Bereche et Fils of Champagne). The combination of the coastal terroir for these local high-acid grapes and extended time on lees produced amazing results. The base wine aged on lees for 12 months, followed by an additional 18 months in bottle for the second fermentation, totaling 30 months on lees. This well-produced bottle will be even better with a few more years of age, but with only 16,000 bottles produced, there aren't many left. If you’d like a few bottles to hold, let us know.
