Jean Huttard, Crémant D'Alsace
Grape Varietal: 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Blanc
Dosage: 0 g/l - Brut Nature
Location: Alsace, France
Quick Facts:
- Care and patience shine in this Crémant that rests on the lees for three years before disgorgement - a method reminiscent of Champagne.
- In the glass this sparkles with fine, persistent bubbles and aromas of baked pears, green apples, honeysuckle, and fresh butter.
- With some wines, the aromas and taste can be different but the taste here perfectly echoes the aromas.
- Pair with soft or semi-hard cheeses, grilled seafood like shellfish or sushi or with white meats off the grill. It's a perfect aperitif or, for a twist, try it on its own, as a palate refresher, at the end of a meal.
Hélène and Antoine Huttard, a sibling duo, represent the 3rd generation of this modest family winery. This small-batch Crémant is just one in their portfolio of 8+ varietals, with a combined total production of only 40-50,000 bottles. They've always valued sustainability, even growing grass between vines back in the 1950's, which was a revolutionary concept at the time. In 1974, they were one of the five producers who launched the Crémant d’Alsace designation.
